During the late 1990s Travel West Midlands (former name of National Express West Midlands) started to invest in new vehicle purchases and the bus route 33 was given branding for its buses used on this route.

Although there are sayings that it will be extended to Walsall or Sutton Coldfield, this is not true, National Express West Midlands have no plans to change this route.
