It was 1981 when the National Corvette Homecoming was first held in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It was created by two Corvette enthusiasts named Tom Hill and Sam Hall. When assembly of Corvettes moved from St. Louis, MO to Bowling Green, the event was a natural response by the community. It is an annual event to celebrate America's only production sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette. All Corvette production years and custom variations are welcome. It is held each year in the home of the only GM Corvette Assembly Plant in the world. The event takes place for three days in July. The National Corvette Museum is located a few miles from the event. The Homecoming was created to offer Corvette owners an interesting event full of opportunities to network concerning the Corvette.
The event features friendly competition in numerous judged shows. There are informative seminars to expand on Corvette knowledge. The event features a unique opportunity to find parts and products that will enhance Corvette ownership. There is a Corvette parade, car corral, cruise-in, live music and an exclusive show called Sans Pareil (without equal) that is the pinnacle of achievement on the Corvette show circuit.
The Homecoming also welcomes other classic vehicles including muscle cars and antiques. NCH has partnered with American Red Cross promoting Vettetastic 2008, a public art project and fundraiser. In 2008, NCH announced it's first Grand Marshal David Burroughs. Burroughs is CEO of Bloomington Gold. The networking opportunities are endless with this national gathering of Corvettes, owners and specialty vendors.
