[edit] Activities
The NCALG is funded by donations from its 2,500 members, a $10,000 contribution from the Mormon Church to set up an 800 phone number, and director Tom Grey's own $3,000-a-month stipend from the Methodist Church. NCALG's Washington office, in a back room of the National Council of Churches, is staffed by volunteers. According to Grey, "We're up against a multibillion-dollar industry, and we're beating them with housewives and dentists."[1]
The NCALG produced a video called "Fireside Chat with Warren Buffett and Tom Grey"[2]
The Indiana State Gaming Commission heard testimony from representatives of the National Coalition Against Legalized Gambling, according to the Post-Tribune in an article dated March 9, 2007 "which decried Cline Avenue's transformation into "the Las Vegas Strip of the Midwest" thanks to expansion projects under way or envisioned at area casinos."
