National Black MBA Association

The National Black MBA Association is a professional association for African Americans with a Master of Business Administration. The National Black MBA Association was formed in 1970 and currently has 40 chapters and 6,000 members in the United States. In the year 2000 a Black MBA UK group was formed in England. The UK version of Black MBA was supported by public funding from the Phoenix Fund and from the European Social Fund. After dramatic growth over three years the UK Black MBA went bankrupt in 2004 and no longer exists as an entity. Much debate followed over the causes.

The National Black MBA Association, is a member of African Americans in business. Twenty-one percent of members have incomes that are over $100,000. All the chapters are active and have websites linked to a national website. The organization gains its strength from a strong belief in community and a commitment to its development through economic and educational development. The main idea of the National Black MBA Association is for members to create a network of Black holders and students seeking an MBA degree. These programs have several missions that they use as a guide line.

The National Black MBA Association has several programs that are developed with local and national business's for including, Candidates for Success, Case Competitions, Employment Network, Conference Job Match, Leaders of Tomorrow, Netential Scholarship, Foundation, and Student Relief Fund.

The National Black MBA Association also has press releases about current events in business. The Association holds an annual event every year, with major personalitites in the business world. At this event, The National Black MBA Association gives the opportunity for networking on a face to face basis. The Association has 10 board members that come with a wide range of education and real world experience, that is not just for the up-coming students, but for the large chapter members. The National Black MBA has four categories of membership:

  • Full Membership $125,
  • Associate Membership $125,
  • Student Membership $60,
  • Collegiate $35,
  • Lifetime $1,000 one time or $350 for 3 years.
