National Audiovisual Archive

The National Audiovisual Archive (Finnish: Kansallinen audiovisuaalinen arkisto, former Finnish Film Archive Finnish: Suomen elokuva-arkisto; Swedish: Finlands filmarkiv) is a Finnish government institution under the Ministry of Education. Its purpose is to acquire, restore and conserve films, radio and tv programms and other related material.

It engages in and supports film research and promotes the knowledge of cinema. It also presents cinematographically, historically or otherwise significants films. Its movie theater Orion is situated in Eerikinkatu/Eriksgatan 15 in Helsinki. In addition to regular screenings in Orion, the Finnish Film Archive also arranges screenings elsewhere in Finland.

In 1 January 2008 Finnish Film Archive changed its name to National Audiovisual Archive when expanding its scope to all audiovisual material.
