The National Association of Karate and Martial Art Schools or NAKMAS is a UK national governing body for martial arts schools or many disciplines. Founded in 1992 the association is chaired by Joe Ellis (6th Dan)[1].
NAKMAS is one of the largest national governing bodies and alongside the KUGB represents many small Shotokan clubs.
NAKMAS has grown in the 00's due to interest generated by martial arts films [2].
