Nathaniel Robert de Rothschild

Michel Nathaniel Robert de Rothschild (born 1946 in Paris, France) is an American banker and member of the prominent Rothschild banking family of France. Known as Nathaniel, he is the first child and only son of Elie Robert de Rothschild and Liliane Elizabeth Victorie Fould-Springer. He will inherit from his father one-sixth of Château Lafite-Rothschild vineyard and one-quarter of Rothschild & Cie Banque.

In 1975 he married Nili Limon (b. 1951). They had two children:

  1. Raphael Benjamin Jacob (1976-1997)
  2. Esther Eva (b. 1979)

Following the 1981 nationalization of banks by the government of François Mitterrand, Nathaniel de Rothschild left France and established a financial services business in New York City, where he now makes his home on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
