Nathan McHugh is a fictional character of Flight 29 Down. He is played by Corbin Bleu.

An avid Boy Scout throughout much of his childhood, Nathan is the son of a great lawyer (father) and opera dancer (mother). His great-great-grandfather is a legendary adventurer, whom he hoped to portray in his time. He is named after his grandfather, Nathaniel Edmund McHugh.
Nathan hopes to finally put his outdoors skills and training (he's been awarded the merit badge for wilderness survival) to good use on the Micronesia EcoAdventure Tour. Nathan's quick sense of humor, confidence and kindness guarantee his place as a popular sophomore at the Hartwell School. A natural leader and great student, he tried running for class president but lost by 10 votes to Daley Marin. His good friend is Melissa Wu.
He once dated Taylor Hagan, a pretty, self-centered classmate, but he's currently not dating anyone. Nathan thought she was a football fan because she seemed to have dotted her I's with footballs. But, as it turns out, she was trying to draw flowers and really didn't like it at all.
He and nine other students from Hartwell got stranded on a deserted island.
Nathan and Daley had fought over who was to be the leader of their group. Nathan had tried to light a signal fire by using friction. He asks Melissa to find some matches in the plane to make it easier, but she accidentally got them wet. For being ruined, Nathan yelled at her thinking that he could actually trust her.
During a thunderstorm, Daley and Nathan argued about each other nonstop for the entire night. The two decide to have an election of who gets to be the leader of the group. The group then decides that both Nathan and Daley will get the morning to prove themselves worthy of being the leader and later they would have a secret ballot and whoever gets the most votes would lead. He went off to find food alone, even though he was told that he shouldn't. He found a tall coconut tree in the jungle, and did his best to get some coconuts down. He came up with an idea to wrap his jacket around his arms as he climbs up, but he fell to the ground, ending up unconscious. Nathan was found by Jackson and Lex, who tended to him and returned him to camp. He lost the race to Jackson. To make up for his loss, Nathan tried to make effective devices that will gather water from the air. Jackson gives Nathan the job of searching the island for food.
As the food had started to deplete from the camp, Nathan, Lex, and Daley went in search of food in the jungle. Lex had him climb with his jacket tied to his legs while he shimmied up the tree that he fell from earlier. The plan worked, but left them to discover that he wasted his time proving he could get the coconuts because there were some on the ground.
When Nathan was seeking use from the others, he felt that he had not done anything right. So, he went to Lex to help build a signal kite. While playing around with a flare gun, he accidentally shot the kite down. Nathan was suggested to stop trying so hard, which came in handy when he suggested to Daley not to wear that lotion on her back when it looked like a sun burn (but it was actually an allergic reaction).
Nathan got a "rash" on his legs for wearing wet boxer shorts, and Taylor helped by giving him a skirt to wear.
Nathan and Daley went pig hunting at one point. While trying different ways to trap one, they developed a friendship, which sparked his romantic interest in Daley. Even though they caught the pig, they let it go because they couldn't go through with it.
Nathan and Daley nearly got into a fight with Jackson when they made fun of his "raft". Nathan was overheard talking about Jackson to few of the others, which created more tension between the pair. They came together after losing a race, which meant they had to help the winners with anything.
When the video diaries were mysteriously stolen by Lex, he admitted to Melissa that he has a crush on Daley. When they were receiving a transmission on the radio during a monsoon, Nathan tried his best to set the satellite dish together and reach them, but would have been fried by a bolt of lightning had Daley not pushed him out of the way. When the monsoon was over, the plane had washed away, nowhere to be seen.
Nathan encouraged Daley to become leader after Jackson had quit, showing his obvious attraction for her.
He lost his nerve to tell Daley the truth about his feelings, which made him unable to pay attention to his surroundings (like a branch about to fall on top of him). Melissa accidentally told everyone about Nathan's feelings for Daley. Nathan and Daley later talked about the situation.
After the plane had washed ashore, they planned to turn it into another shelter. Once Nathan stopped trying to create fire, he started getting some seaweed and rope off of the plane to try to pull it, but the plane had turned over, catching his legs. Eric stayed behind while the others were collecting fruit. He supported Nathan's body when the tide was coming in. Once the others came back, they finally got Nathan out and tended to him.
When they moved the plane, he was hurt and they couldn't find any antiseptic for the wound. It turned out Eric took supplies in preparation, wanting to explore the island. Daley felt bad because she didn't hear him when he got hurt, but he didn't blame her.
Nathan brought up the subject between him and Daley to her, but she completely stomped his heart telling that he is impulsive and headstrong.
They later made up after they got stuck in the water when the raft broke apart. She admitted her feelings for him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
