Nathan Lloyd Smith

Private Nathan Lloyd Smith (June 28, 1975-April 17, 2002) was a Canadian soldier who was killed in a friendly fire incident near Kandahar, Afghanistan (see Tarnak Farm incident).
He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1975. He graduated from the commercial diving course at Seneca College in Newmarket, Ontario in 1997. He joined the Canadian Army in September 1998.
Smith's mother, Charlotte Lynn Smith, was named the Silver Cross Mother in 2003 by the Royal Canadian Legion. There is also a camp in Afghanistan named after him (Camp Nathan Smith).
