[edit] Controversy

In 2005, Make Believe was on tour with Christian rock bands Veda and mewithoutYou. One of the stops on the tour took place on June 28, at an all-ages Christian rock venue in Bartlesville, Oklahoma called the Wherehouse. At this venue, according to an affidavit provided by the Bartklesville police, "Nate Kinsella got up from his drum kit, walked to the front of the stage, and "took his pants off and exposed his genitalia and penis to the crowd." He, in addition, "wrung the sweat from them over the heads of audience members." [3] An ensuing thread created on the Polyvinyl Records forums [4] indicates that Nate Kinsella ended up spending roughly a year in jail at the Washington County Sheriff's Department, paling in comparison to the possible 10 years in jail he could have received.
