Nate Adamson was a fictional character in the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street.
He was a student at Ferndale High School. He was dating Sophie McKay to be close to her brother Hunter but the relationship broke after Catlin revealed that Nate was gay and Nate went away to reflect. Sophie lost her virginity to Nate, who later told Hunter that he realised he was gay. Nate wasn't impressed at being taken to a gay bar by Hunter who pushed him away when he tried to kiss him. Nate's mother was concerned that Nate hadn't come home and called Hunter and the two were caught kissing when Nate walked in. Nate ran off in horror, but later returned and tried to kill Hunter. After disappearing for a few weeks he turned up at the McKay's house with police after he was caught climbing through a window telling them he was Hunter McKay. He refused to go to mother's house with Hunter staying there and instead stayed with the McKays. When his mother came to talk with him the next day she told him she wanted him back and was desperately sad without him. He said he would move back but only if Hunter moved out. He was hellbent on spilting up Tess and Hunter. Nate and his mother have now left Ferndale.
