[edit] Sponsors
Like previous NASCAR video game titles, alcohol sponsors do not appear in the game, along with the sponsor Viagra. The most notable example of this is the NASCAR Busch Series, which is referred to as the NASCAR National Series (in reference to Busch Grand National Series, a previous name of the series), along with a changed series logo. When a sponsor would normally appear on a car, it is replaced by the team, driver's name, or an alternate primary sponsor.
Car sponsors changed are:
- Rusty Wallace's Miller Lite Dodge is replaced with Team Rusty logos.
- Mark Martin's Viagra Ford is replaced with his alternate Pfizer paint scheme.
- Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Budweiser Chevy is replaced with Dale Earnhardt Jr. logos.
- Sterling Marlin's Coors Light Dodge is replaced with Sterling Marlin logos.
[edit] Criticism
NASCAR SimRacing is often criticized by players for its lack of support from EA Sports. The game suffered many problems including an infamous 'yellow flag bug' which would cause the player to be disqualified from a race for passing another car on accident while under caution in both single player and multiplayer races. In October, 2006 EA Sports shut down the GameSpy multiplayer servers, which was by far the most popular mode in the game.[1] Players developed software to once again race in multiplayer servers but the popularity was not what it once was. In February, 2007 the multiplayer GameSpy server began working again.
In late February of 2008, EA took down the Gamespy server, this time, it is permanent. But there is still online racing, using a mod to keep it running.
