NASCAR Manufacturers' Championship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The NASCAR Manufacturers' Championship is awarded to the most successful automobile manufacturer in NASCAR's highest division, the Nextel Cup series. The title has been awarded every season since 1952, with the modern era beginning in 1972.
Points are awarded after each race to the different manufacturers who took part in it. The winner's manufacturer gets nine points, six for the next manufacturer, four for the third-placed manufacturer, three points for the fourth, two points for the fifth, and one point for the sixth. Whichever manufacturer has the most points by the end of the season wins the championship.
