Earlier it was known as "Morwana" as Mor+Wana, it means a place where Mor lives. Mor community is the native people of Narwana. Lateron when other communities came there, it became Nar+wana (a place where every one lives.)

Most of the people are Hindu, though there are worship places for every religion. 'Baba Gaibi Sahib Mandir' is very famous place where on Sunday, most of the people visit. Old Hanuman Temple is another famous and old temple in the city which is famous all around. As of 2001 India census[2], Narwana had a population of 50,659. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Narwana has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 54%. In Narwana, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Narwana is well Connected with Road Network & Rail Network. It's located on a junction of Two National Highways NH 65 & NH 71.
Haryan & Punjab Roadways buses connect it with most of towns in haryana & surrounding states of Punjab, UP & Delhi. Buses are normally available only in day hours. If you are coming from Delhi by Road take the NH 10 that connect Delhi to Fazilka. On a junction Near Rohtak shift to NH71 towards Jind. In Jind you have to pass through City before coming towards Narawna.
An Alternate Route is via Delhi-Sonipat-Jind that is few km shorter.
By rail it's on the Main BG line that connect National Capital to Bhatinda. It's also a Junction station with branch line to Kurukshetra. The important train which stops at this station are Punjab Mail(Mumbai CST-Firozpur), Sriganga Nagar-New Delhi Intercity, Mumbai-Firozpur Janta Express (Via Kota), Howrah-Sriganga Nagar (Via Patna), Kanyakumari-Jammu Express (1 of Longest train running in India), Manglore -Jammu Navyug Express, Chenni-Jammu Andman Express, Pathankot-Delhi Dhauldhar Express, Guwhati-Lalgarh (Bikaner),Jablapur-Jammu Tawi Express & few other passenger trains.
Nearest Airports are at Chandigarh & Delhi. Delhi is well connected by many World cities and Indian state capitals. Few private companies also provide Charted Flights to Sirsa which is 2 hours distance by Road.

Narwana have couple of small hotels.There is a beautiful restaurant complex called Harial near Bus Stand, There is marriage Palace called Milan Palace near water tank & one near appolo chowk in the Town.
Harial is closed bu Govt. of Haryana now days.
