Narora is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 174 metres (570 feet). It is about 150km away from Delhi.

As of 2001 India census[2], Narora had a population of 20,376. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Its average literacy rate is 58%, lower than the national average of 59.5%, with male literacy 65% and female literacy 49%. In Narora, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Narora is home to one of the nation's network of nuclear power plants, operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), a public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India . Its twin reactors are an Indianised version of the Canadian CANDU-Type reactors, which operate on natural uranium as fuel and heavey water as the moderator-cum-primary coolant. This is one of the reactors for which fuel would be procured from U.S.A., if and when the ongoing (as of 2008) negotiations between the two countries fructify.

Narora has several bathing locations or steps (Ghats) for holy dip in the Ganges. View from its Narora Dam is very scenic. The modern residential colony of the staff of Narora Atomic Power Plant, (NAPS), is just near the Dam. Its Ganga statue and parks are also worth a visit. Belon-wali Mata mandir (Temple of Mother-goddess) is just 5 km from Narora.
Narvar Pathsala is also there. Shri J. P. Suman is a very famous poet of Gazals and a drawing artist.
