[edit] History

The suburb name dates to the 1800s but its origin cannot be verified. Naremburn was originally know as Central Township. The earliest land grants in the area were granted to Humphrey Evans and Peter Dargan in 1794. [1]

[edit] Commercial Area

Naremburn has a small shopping strip on Willoughby Road. From the centre of Naremburn it is a mere five minute stroll to Crows Nest, with all of the attractions such as shops, restaurants and sporting facilities on Willoughby Road. The main attractions of Naremburn shopping strip include Peter's Milk Bar, with his speciality lolly, 'karate belts'; Naremburn Pizzeria, Olde Fashioned Fish & Chips and Forsyths Coffee house.

[edit] Transport

The Warringah Freeway cuts through the middle of the suburb. Some residents boast that there is only "One traffic light to the city", which can sometimes be a key selling point when putting the house on the market. Naremburn is a short distance from St Leonards railway station on the North Shore line of the CityRail network. Sydney Buses network buses from Chatswood stop at Naremburn shops, with services 272 (via freeway) and 273 (via North Sydney) to the CBD, and service 257 to Mosman.
