Narborough railway station serves the village of Narborough in Leicestershire. It is located on the Birmingham to Peterborough Line 8 km (4¾ miles) south west of Leicester.
When built it was one of many rural stations built adjacent to the road with a level crossing. At the time, this would have been adequate given the road traffic of the period, but nowadays Narborough is a busy suburb of the City of Leicester and a large traffic jam on the entrance to Narborough is common, due to waiting for approaching trains to clear the level crossing.
[edit] Service
From Narborough there is generally an hourly service each day towards Birmingham New Street westbound and Leicester eastbound.
In the peak hours there are occasional services on the Birmingham to Cambridge and Stansted Airport route although most pass through Narborough station at fairly high speed (90mph).
Connections at Leicester onward to London are ideal at 10 minutes, providing easy interchange to International Eurostar services at London St Pancras International, jouneys can be completed in around 1 hr 30 minutes. Although it is staffed by East Midlands Trains, none of their trains stop here.
This station has a booking office which is open commuter hours 06:00 to 13:00, the waiting room is open the same hours.
