Narayanasami Sathyamurthy

Narayana Sathyamurthy (born July 10, 1951 in Tamilnadu, India) is an eminent scientist in India. He is the founding director of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, Punjab, India. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Annamalai University. Sathyamurthy moved to the United states to where he obtained his Ph.D degree at Oklahoma University in 1975. He further carried out postdoctoral research in nobel laurate J.C.Polanyi's lab. After that Sathyamurthy joined Indian Institute of Technology as a lecturer in 1978. Sathyamurthy became professor in 1985.
