Nanticoke, Ontario
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nanticoke is a community located on the western border of Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada. It is southeast of Simcoe in neighbouring Norfolk County and south of Brantford. Historically a bustling farming and fishing community inhabited since the 1700s, Nanticoke is now highly industrialized, and supplies up to 4000MW of electric energy to Southern Ontario through the Nanticoke Generating Station.
Nanticoke's residential area is bordered on the west by the Nanticoke Industrial Park, home to the Stelco Lake Erie Works and a number of smaller businesses, including Nelson Steel, Charles Jones Industrial (www.cji.on.ca)and Air Products. The neighbouring Esso Refinery on the northeast, and the Nanticoke Generating Station on the southeast are not part of the Industrial Park land, although this is frequently confused due to their proximity.
