Past Tense/Present Tense
Tenebrae, I disagree that when discussing something that happened in a book one should use the present tense. I haven't reversed your edits since it seems more polite to give you an opportunity to make a case for present-tensing. Thanks. -- House of Scandal 14:56, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, I appreciate the opportunity to get back to you! I'm just going by WikiProject Comics' editorial guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/editorial guidelines#Present tense. (I know, I know, there are a million guidelines!) It's possible I might be misinterpreting what it says; I don't honestly, think so, since present tense is used in fictional bios throughout the Project, but I may well have gotten part of it wrong. Check out that link and see what you think. Thanks. -- Tenebrae 15:36, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
I referenced the text you site and it’s clear that you are correct. My own stylistic druthers runs contrary to, and therefore must be superceded by, the Wikipedia guidelines. Thanks for the link and for elucidating me on this matter. It would be great if ALL differences of opinion on Wikipedia were handled this civilly. Best wishes.
The Rock as Namor
I think Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a perfect choice to be cast as Namor in the new movie.
Modern Age Mess
The Modern Age section is in severe need of clean-up. The timeline seems thrown together, and if memory serves, doesn't seem to be in order at all. Further, there was a lot of adventures that Namor participated in before finding Jean Grey's cocoon beneath the ocean. For a character that is Marvel's own oldest super-hero, his accomplishments are glossed over. And for some reason, Namor's association with Heroes for Hire is given several lines of text, but for some reason his membership with the Avengers and Defenders is barely mentioned at all. I find this hard to understand as Namor's associations with the Defenders and Avengers are far more significant and longer-lived than his brief time affiliated with the H4H. The Author of this section, if he wants to include the Kun Lun and what not is free to do so, but I think that much more time needs to be devoted to Namor's rich history, as opposed to a short lived storyline. Command of Sea Life
It says in the notable powers box that Namor has "command of marine life" - I was under the impression that this was an Aquaman power and that Namor explicitly CANNOT talk to sea animals. Marveldirectory dot com says nothing about a talking-to-sea-life ability, but it does leave stuff out; I'm not really a Namor fan except by proxy and said proxy-er says that he doesn't feel familiar enough with Namor-lore to go in and edit right now.
Confirmation from another fan with source back-up to hand would be awesome. - Tinderblast 02:08, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- According to the OHOTMU: Avengers 2004, he has - quote - "a telepathic rapport with many, although not all, forms of marine life! - unquote, so at the very least, command sounds too strong.
- The big problem with Namor's powers beyond the basic strength/flight/breathe underwater and out of water is that he's got a ton of powers that mostly only showed up once or twice in the Silver Age (like his electric (eel) powers), and I'm not particuarly familiar with his solo series to say if he did often "pull an Aquaman." It's certainly not something I'd ever heard of before I looked back at the Handbook there at least. And the Deluxe Handbook makes no mention of it either, which is odd (unless, of course, it's been tacked on in recent years. Weird addition if it is) - SoM 03:07, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
-
- That's kind of what I was thinking, that this was something obscure or defunct if not conflation with Aquaman. - Tinderblast 04:21, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Namor's strength
Namor can now lift 100 tons. The people that keep editing it to 85, are wrong. Here is a link to the image from OHOTMU 2004:

We want real information here, right? Stop editing it.
Actually we're not supposed to mention "class 100" or "ability to lift/press 100 tons" any more here, because of Wikipedia policy concerning in-universe laws (can't find the link, can anyone add it please?). Nevertheless it seems relevant to me to mention that Namor's strenght equals The Hulk's (not enraged), since this is a statement which can often be found and since The Hulk is a very famous character, known by many non-Marvel fans. --Cosmic Camel Clash 22:33, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Removed Quote
I excised the following text:
" Everything his now - the famous credo of "survival of the fittest" exemplified. Because, after all, one did not require the mind of a Charles Darwin to see...there were none fitter then Savage Sub-Mariner." - Mr. Sinister, Weapon X #14
because it is poorly edited (I can only assume the original comic text read a little more clearly and used 'than' rather than 'then') and doesn't really add much anyway. Matt Deres 19:45, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Merger
The Feat List either needs to be deleted or merged into this article. I think it should be deleted myself, although a lot of the info can be incorporated into this article. Instead of pictures from another hosting site, one or two can be uploaded to the wiki, or issues can simply be referenced. Kusonaga 14:42, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Survey
- Delete the Feat List as being a feat list, but Merge some of its info. Kusonaga 14:42, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Delete I agree that the Feat List should be deleted. Some of the info has merit that can be mentioned in the powers and abilities section of the article. Odin's Beard 00:54, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Delete but some of the information is worht mentioning. The rest, although interesting, can be scrapped.--Guille2015 02:14, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Delete — I question the encyclopedic value of this list for anyone outside comics; it's much better suited to a fan site. -- Tenebrae 15:03, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Delete — A little of this info in the "Powers" section of the main Namor article will go a long way. --GentlemanGhost 03:33, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Delete — Cruft. Salvage what's useful. --Chris Griswold 08:11, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

The 198
Shouldn't Namor be part of the catagory "The 198". Seems like he qualifies.--Bedford 04:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Um...yes. He has powers and has been classified as a mutant. ACTUALLY, though, we don't know that he has been counted by whoever enumerated the 198. So, he can be a notation of some sort. --Chris Griswold 05:31, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Ultimate Namor
Can anyone add information about the Namor #1-12 (June, 2003 – May, 2004) series under Marvel's Tsunami line? It was written by Andi Watson and Bill Jemas, with pencils by Salvador Larocca. The story was not in-continuity, and so should go under "Other Versions" if anything. --Ydermenj 1:30, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- What exactly made that series out of contuinity?--Kusonaga 18:27, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Maybe it had something to do with the whole Marvel Mangaverse thing? Odin's Beard 01:41, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Black Adam Comparison?
Is this truely a necessary or even accurate analaogy? Black Adam is a ruthless and brutal killer, and while Namor has had his run ins with the surface world in the past, he's nominally heroic a majority of the time. Further, i don't think there's much of anything to point out that Namor was a basis for Black Adam, or vice versa. I think we should delete the small bit of text linking the two characters, as it seems unfounded. The only real similarities the two share is arrogance. CapoCastillo 18:26, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Pub history vs. fictional bio
Some of the biographical plot-detail stuff under Publication history probably needs to be blended into Fictional character history. I've made a first pass at present-tensing it, but it still needs work. --Tenebrae 22:36, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Namor's ankle wings
I seem to recall a Golden Age story that showed Namor going through some sort of mutagenic treatment (in the proverbial full-body tube with tons of electricity all around it, though how they pulled that off underwater is another story) that resulted in the ankle wings, as well as other less-visible gifts (like, perhaps, an increase in strength). Anybody know where that story was? If so, it should be cited as the source for his famous ankle wings. --Joe Sewell 11:26, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Cryptozoology banner?
Someone has gone around and added this banner to the talk pages of all Atlantean characters.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.136.11.242 (talk • contribs)
deserves a comparison to Aquaman
The article should at least mention that he and Aquaman have extremely similar powers, and explain which came first and in which direction the influence goes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Carlj7 (talk • contribs) 10:37, 24 January 2007 (UTC).
- This is a coincidence. I came here looking for the exact same information. I think the editors have purposely with-held this info, but why? Do DC and Marvel fans really not get along...? 86.129.35.210 18:14, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
article move to Namor
"Sub-mariner" pertains to old uses of the character, and perhaps some comic book titles, but Thor is not listed under "Mighty Thor", and Hulk is not listed under "Incredible Hulk".--Chris Griswold (☎☓) 04:02, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Probably a good idea, so long as we leave this page as a redirect. Give it a few days to see what occurs as those who've got this page watchlisted either weigh in or don't. ThuranX 04:32, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
World War Hulk
We're getting a lot of speculative adds about this, but nothign with anycitation at all. Since it hasn't started yet, we should probably work to keep the spec out. ThuranX 02:59, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Nita
I have an ancient copy (Vol. !, No. 62 June. 1973 issue.) with the title "A Realm Besieged" wherein a female submariner character dressed in a onepiece strapless swimmingsuit of a similar greenscaled fabric as Namors with a golden belt appears briefly. She is vital to the storyline, but her backround is not given in that issue. I created an incoming disambiguation page here from Nita as it was formerly only about the Disney character. But it would be embarrassing to have the disambiguation page point to this when there is no information about her here. Can somebody who has the issues which explain her backround fill in the details, thank you. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. 06:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. Update. I read the issue again, more closely. It even mentions that Nita and Namor are brother and sister. This only makes things more embarrassing as regards the current state of the article. It mentions his cousin Namorita, but not her sister. Again, can somebody fill in the details...? -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. 06:55, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Decimate / Destroy
"Decimate" actually doesn't only have that single, literal definition, and its common usage, per Webster's, describes the event more clearly than "destroyed," which can mean physically torn apart: "to reduce drastically especially in number <cholera decimated the population> b : to cause great destruction or harm to <firebombs decimated the city> <an industry decimated by recession>". --Tenebrae 05:16, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Supervillain Team-Up
Shouldn't this title be mentioned, at least in the Bibliography? Luis Dantas 13:22, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
