I've read the whole Slovene/Slovenian discussion. I am amazed that S. Klinar is quoted as an authority on this question. I asked an American linguist who lectured at our uni in Ljubljana for a semester whence the difference and received exactly the same answer as the one given by E.Gobetz. At the time when Slovenians emerged on the political map of Europe, French was the language of diplomacy, not German. When I went to Britain, I asked several British people who had not even heard of Slovenia before what would they call me and my language, coming from Slovenia, and they said "Slovenian". The English grammar aside, their explanation was proof enough for me.

So what is the point of this entry? This is an editorial style guide type of issue. So rationalizations aside, pick one and use it. Or, use both. I don't see how Wikipedia would enforce everyone's preferred term selections.
