[edit] Useless

This is far too short to merit an article. Nobody will look it up under this title. Merge with the section Turkey#Etymology.  Andreas  (T) 17:07, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

It was just created and it is marked as a stub. It will be developed in due time. It has been copied from that article in any case. I just created this article two hours ago and marked it as a stub, it would be nice if you gave me some time to work on it.. The existing form is referenced and will be developed. What is the rush? :)) Baristarim 17:18, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
It has been expanded, thus no need for merge. I am removing the merge tag. When you give it some time, it can actually expand :) Baristarim 21:59, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of languages

I tried to organize them under country names, to make it easier for readers to locate the countries that they are affiliated with. Even though major languages might not pose a problem, this might be the case for certain languages who are either not official, or only relate to a region of a country, or cover certain regions in a number of countries. Examples: Basque, Catalan, Kurdish etc. If there is no particular country, please put a remark to that effect. I will take a look at the table again to format it better, so that Brazil and Portugese will be listed together instead of seperately for example. And I will also try to find fixes to be able to list languages under one country etc. Just need some time :) Baristarim 22:26, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Content of Article (etymology or history of Turk)

I don't think it's a wise decision to paste the entire article from Name of Turkey to History of the Turkish People. Much of the original article of Name of Turkey actually does not talk about the "Turks" as an ethnic group, but about the NAMES that had been historically conferred on the land we now call "Turkey". I totally disagree with putting all this information under "History of the Turkish People". It is rather, about the land, or country, not about the people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bestlyriccollection (talkcontribs) 06:10, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Please, this revert is not about if the material you paste is correct or wrong. It is about matching the intention of the title and the content. Look at the article "Name of Istanbul." The article should only include "etymology of the word TURKEY", same as the name of Istanbul. You are performing WP:OR by including unrelated content in the article. If this continues, you will receive opposition, which might end up removal of the article. It is better if you tell your story in its correct place, which fits to history of Turkish people. Please, check the article history of Turkish people and you will see that this articles content is the correct place to what you want to tell. This article is about etymology, not history. Regarding the content you are adding, besides it is in the wrong article. Wikipedia is a reference work. You have to bring your citation to prove your point. Look at the article Ataturk. Nearly every position (roughly sentence) has a citation. This way other users can search the library and see if it is correct. Without any references, you are performing WP:POV. That is wrong. Use inline citations. Your text is a mine field for Wikipedia:NPOV dispute ----TarikAkin (talk) 16:17, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
