The first written records about building of a new church dates from 1655 - 1658. It was a chapel, that now serves as an entry to the church. Later it was rebuilded and enlarged several times, mostly after great fire at the end of the 18th century. The first Namestovo's pastor was Ján Neborovini, later Štefan Boczko ascended his post, who have performed here to year 1672 and was disconolately engaged in Piko's rebellion. Then he fled before punishment to Transylvania. In the year 1672 for the first time Namestovo's pastorate was occupied by catholic priest. In the years 1672 - 1678 catholic priest Róbert Chmeľovsky was supported by Jesuit priests from Lokca's pastorage. In 1706 was in Namestovo protestant pastor Jastrabini Fabianus. The last protestant pastor in Namestovo was Juraj Pixiades. Pastorage in Namestovo was definitely occupied by catholic priests from 1711. Namestovo's fire fighters intervened by great fire. The outbuildings were flamed by lightning, whole upper part of Namestovo and roof of church were burned. When the first World War started and 6th war loan was listed from population at 13th july 1917 also the church's bells were reqired from Namestovo's citizens. The church was devoted to saint Simon and Juda, who was considered as partons (defenders of city) and figured also at city's blazon. The End.
