"Naked Ambition" is the 75th episode in the FOX animated television series King of the Hill and is the 15th episode of the fourth season.

[edit] Plot

After a day at the river, Bobby accidentally sees Luanne naked when he walks in on her in the public showers. Highly upset, he tells Joseph Gribble who becomes obsessed with seeing Luanne naked himself.

Meanwhile, Boomhauer falls asleep while tubing and floats to Houston, not waking up until the next morning sunburned, in just a tiger print bikini in a sewer. He crawls out of the sewer, getting covered with slime and sewage, and stumbles around around where he is taken by police to a mental health hospital and involuntary committed for a 72-hour observation period.

Back in Arlen Joseph begins spending more and more time at the Hill's, fawning over Luanne hoping for an opportunity to see her naked. When Bobby sees Joseph staring through Luanne's bathroom with a pair of binoculars, he goes outside to confront his friend, only to be caught by Connie who assumes the boys were trying to spy on her. Assuming Bobby to be a "pervert" she breaks up with him.

At the mental hospital, Boomhauer calls Dale Gribble and after making him promise not to tell Hank, asks him to help him escape. Dale trades clothes with a patient at the hospital, but is assumed to be a patient and suffers de facto involuntary confinement.

Boomhauer and Dale then turn to Bill and likewise make him promise not to tell Hank before seeking his assistance to help them out. While waiting to speak to an administrator, Bill reads a pamphlet on depression and voluntarily admits himself to the hospital.

Boomhauer devises a plan of escape by hiding out in a laundry cart. Bill, however, divulges the plan in a group therapy situation and the three are sedated. Before blacking out, Dale tells the others that whoever is the first to regain consciousness should call Hank.

In Arlen, Bobby reconciles with Connie, and the two decide to see each other naked. Bobby takes off his shirt but they are caught by Kahn while only Connie's belly button is visible.

When Hank learns his three friends are at the mental hospital, he quickly gets them discharged. (Boomhauer's observation period was over, Dale was never admitted, and Bill who was there voluntarily was always free to leave at any time.)

[edit] Quotes and Exchanges

  • Joseph: Was she wearing high heels?
Bobby: She wasn't wearing anything!
Joseph: Oh man. I'm gonna picture her in high heels.
  • Luanne: I know it's only natural for you to want to see a woman naked, but I am your cousin. The first time was an accident, but if I catch you again, you will go to hell.
  • Dale: People are suddenly allergic to peanuts. Peanuts are omitting toxins as an evolutionary defence mechanism. They're tired of being eaten. And now they're fighting back! But anyhow, I'm just here to pick up my buddy Boomhauer. You see we were both in here by mistake. Of course I can't vouch for Boomhauer, but I am most definitely not crazy.
Doctor: Go on.
Dale: Did you just say "go mom"? Now who's the crazy one?
  • Kahn: You think that boy [Bobby] your future? That not baby fat. That permanent.
  • Dale: How did they find out about our plan?
Bill: I may have mentioned something in group.
  • Kahn: The truth about your little boy not so pretty after all, is it? That boy is girl-crazy sex fiend!
  • Joseph: First you see Luanne naked. Now you say you saw Connie naked too? When did you become such a player?
Bobby: I didn't see her naked. All I saw was her belly button.
Joseph: How was that?
Bobby: Incredible! But I'll never see it again.
  • Kahn: Seriously, you just dodged a chubby, white bullet.
