Following info is not related to the artile and can be used while creating an article on The Great Trigonometrical Society :

The Society was created by Colonel William Lambten in Chennai on April 10, 1802.

There is nothing — and never was anything — called the Great Trigonometrical Society. There was, and still is, The Great Trigonometrical Survey of India, a part of the Survey of India, instituted in Calcutta in the 1760s, one of the first central services to be created by the East India Company in the wake of its conquest of Bengal.
