Talk:Naharin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi there, The Naharin article should be preserved. It contains a direct link to the kingdom of Mitanni that is easily accessible. Secondly, anyone who reads it would know right away that it is the Egyptian term for Mitanni. Other Near Eastern pages have disambigulation pages for the same subject: see Hittite. There should be at least one for Mitanni too. Thank You, Leoboudv 20:23, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Function of this page
A lot of people are under the impression that Mitanni and Naharin are precisely corrolated. They aren't. One is a state, the other is a geographical area with history independant of Mitanni. It doesn't deserve a delete, nor a redirect. As I have said before, I say again: this would be like deleting Anatolia because we have Turkey. They are not quite the same thing. I agree. The Naharin stub should be retained. It will be useful for future Wikipedia users who are interested in Ancient Near Eastern history. Leoboudv 07:47, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- The article makes the terms seem synonymous - "the Ancient Egyptian term for the kingdom of Mitanni". If Naharin means something else, that needs to be specified in the article. IansAwesomePizza (talk) 04:55, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
