Nagrota is located on the NH1, the National Highway #1 in India, when one travels from Jammu northwards towards Udhampur, further on towards Srinagar. It lies in Jammu district.
Nagrota is also a cantonment. The NH1 passes right through Nagrota, or it can be said that the whole of Nagrota lies on either side of the highway - with a few by lanes.
Though Nagrota does not have a railway station, oddly it has a Railway Station Code assigned - NGRT.
[edit] Significance
Nagrota is the home of 16 Corps, the largest Corps in the Indian Army. The corps is tasked with counter insurgency operations in the jammu and udhampur area

[edit] Cantonment
