[edit] Good Article nominee #1

I'm placing a "Quick-Fail" on this article pending the fixing of these issues:

(See my answers inline:--maf (talk-cont) 03:21, 9 June 2007 (UTC))
  1. Image copyright problem. The image page says the photo of Afonso is in the PD but a copyright warning tag is still present. I can't fix it as I don't speak the language. The poster's pictured are all supposedly "fair-use" but no rationales are given. Notice that the fair use tag on the images all ask the uploader to include rationales. I think you may find that using the images in what amounts to a gallery of his work is specifically excluded from fair use. See this link for help.
Artist's photo: replaced by my own photo with appropriate release tag.
Artworks: I don't believe it can be called a gallery (for decorative purposes), as only a minimum number of images is used, and only to give a significant and necessary visual complement to the section on the artist's personal and original aesthetics theory, and its evolution in time; no more images have been uploaded to WP or to the Commons, thus reinforcing the fair-use intention. I added the following fair-use rationale to all the 12 artwork images:
  1. Low resolution image (350px height) of a painting by the artist Nadir Afonso, previously shown at the artist's official webpage.
  2. Part of a limited series of paintings, selected from the hundreds this artist has produced, that illustrates the progression of the artist's style over the years (one painting per period) and provides a critical analysis of the artist's own original aesthetics theory.
  1. Chronological Milestones. This section needs to be paired down considerably; including only major milestones. Much of the material is minor and duplicated from the article.
Done. All this material is still redundant but I believe a timeline could be useful to quickly place one of his works within his life.
  1. Exhibitions. I would suggest pairing this list down too as it is rather bulky and lengthy.
Done.

I think these suggestions should give you a good place to start. Otherwise I think its a good read and I hope you work out the kinks. JodyB talk 22:20, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Good article nominee #2

  • GA FAIL
    • Constant change of tense from past to present. Maintain it at Past unless it applies to the present. (if it does, use present perfect)
    • Unnecessarily elaborate & wound up English: "19xx was the year" Correct: In 19xx,
    • Shallow understanding: Unless you've studied Nadir Afonso and art in general, you can't write an article on him. You fail to explain how reorientation of the "his concepts of the origin and essence of art" was controversial to his work. Was his work art or architecture? What are his new fundamentals of aesthetics? "Architecture is a science, a team elaboration"... Ok... But what relevance do the quotation and elaboration achieve in explaining anything?
    • Keep track of chronology when mentioning art theories, etc.: I don't have any idea if this controversial theory is his current theory or if it's second to the last of his theories or what. You might expect the readers to refer to the introduction to figure out what his theory is.... no.
    • Too few sources: there are too few sources to write about Nadir Afonso and his art theories. A lot of it sounds like original research to me.
    • Improper citation: Also, some are not properly cited. The entire organization is wrong. You should have a Reference section, and a Notes section. The Notes Section is where you give page numbers for book cites that appear frequently. All the websites should also be in the Notes Section. For example, "Idem". Yeah, thanks for giving the author's last name... You should give full citation of the book in the Reference section.
    • Good job, and good luck. : )

[edit] Why geometric abstractionist?

I don't know the work well enough to say, but it doesn't seem to meet the definition given at Geometric abstraction. Hope this helps, "alyosha" (talk) 02:16, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
