Talk:Nadavara
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
October 20, 2007: The article on Nadavaru is expanded with a new title Nadavara. Many facts are from authentic Indian History books that are difficult for me to refer. So I have discussed with two historians in India. According to me it is well written.
November 28, 2007: Hello Kathy A,
After I read the article on Nadavaru and your concerning remarks of November 2006, I decided to edit your publication as you requested. The title of the article Nadavaru is a slang used for Nadavara, just like Brit for British or Swede for Swedish. I immediately changed the title from Nadavaru to ‘‘Nadavara’’, which is the correct nomenclature. The previous article "Nadavaru" was half a page and was not thoroughly researched. The Wikipedia article, (Nadavaru?) was completely deleted due to its irrelevance on the topic. I compiled the new article on Nadavara with the help of a historian along with my own research on the topic. The new article on Nadavara is also published elsewhere. So far I have received good feedbacks on the article, especially from the historian.
Sikanjal
The artical on Nadavara is well liked by many people who read it. Under "Ethnic groups of India it may be too long. Can it be published under a different category?

[edit] Notability, sources
Sikanjal: The write up will be shortened by at least 50% with in next few days.
The notability of the subject is currently unclear, since no sources are cited. By the notability criteria, independent reliable sources are required to make sure that the subject is notable. These sources might be press articles or books, for example. The sources may, but need not, be available online; it is however important that they are explicitly cited.
External links have been doccumented. Please check it out.
Content on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable. If the article remains completely unsourced, it might get deleted.
The article "Nadavaru" is fully documented on reliable sources.
For the time being, I am replacing the “importance” tag with “notability”. Sorted as part of the Notability wikiproject. --B. Wolterding 19:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Please reexamine the issues on "Nadavaru" which is rewritten as per the Wikipedia request with in last two weeks .
The no refence tags keep getting deleted on this article. The article looks typical of an unreferenced article with peacock terms. Please do not delete the tags as there are no references except the external links section, which is not counted as references according to WP policy.Nambs (talk) 07:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Why delete the article Sikanjal? It is better to restore the content and add references. Just because one user summarizes his knowledge of the Nadavara community on this page, does not mean it should be taken as fact and not require references. However the pre-existing content should be included until improved in any case.Nambo (talk) 12:35, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Hello Nambiar,
I do not know how I got involved in this. Nadavara is exclusively one-person article. The historian who wrote the article (edited by me) is in the process of publishing a book on Nadavara in Kanad. She does not like to be questioned as it may reflect on her book in progress. I will talk to the historian who lives in India. Actually, I may visit the historian to collect her thoughts on Mughals, on my next trip to Goa, India. Please bear with me. We will try to do the right thing. Thank you.
Sikanjal.
Hello Nambiar,
I do not know your subject matter expertise. What do you know about Nadavara of Karnataka? If you do not have adequate knowledge about the subject, please do not edit. Partial or incomplete writing may not justify its value in Vikipedia. And also you may even offend the members of that community. I already received complaints from the original author of the article about your edits. The ineffective editing would certainly dissatisfy the people who can relate to the article. Currently, your deletion of the sentences has affected the continuity of the subject matter and the flow of the narration of the article. What shall we do now? My recommendation is to wait for the fully edited article or we may lose the historian who wrote it. Jan 19, 2008.

I merely removed the point of view (POV) statements from an earlier version, and restored the article, I have added nothing to it. If this author is angry at me trying to edit the article according to WP policy, maybe he/she should consider privately releasing such information as Wikipedia is a public encycopedia and I also suggest reading a bit more about the terms POV and WP policy on articles, if he/she wishes to have his/her content on this encyclopedia. There is also the matter of references.Nambo (talk) 01:09, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I believe "Nadavaru" or "Nadavar" is well written to me. But it is your call. It is the same thing.

Dear Mr. R Naik
Please do not mention names, as pride of individual authorship is totally forbidden by Wikipedia. In addition the original write up on Nadavara in both Kannada and English has been circulated within Nadavara community by the author a year ago.
Sikanjal
Dear Mr. Sikanjal,
What names are you refereing here. Who is the author originally? Do we find him/her here as a contributor (editing history). Did the community accept the aricle with the current title " Nadavara". As i know the title is wrong. Let me know the details little bit so that I can reach out the community there. Thanks for the update and the suggestion.
