Nadine Angerer (born November 10, 1978 in Lohr am Main) is a German women's football player. She has played in the Frauen-Bundesliga since 2000 and in the women's national football team. She holds the record for most consecutive minutes played without conceding a goal in World Cup play.
[edit] Career
Her career began with ASV Hofstetten when she played as a forward. Soon however, she was to realize her potential as a goalkeeper after an injury to the playing keeper.
In 1995 she switched to 1. FC Nuremberg and a year later she switched to FC Wacker. While at Wacker, she was given the opportunity to play football for an American college soccer team, but she refused. Between 1999 and 2001 she played with FC Bayern München, where she brought them into the top division. She switched in 2004 to FFC Turbine Potsdam where she became a German cup winner in 2004 and 2006. On September 30th 2007 she won the Women's World Cup with the German team without conceding a single goal throughout the tournament.
She switched in 2008 to Djurgårdens IF Dam in Sweden where she replaced Bente Nordby.
[edit] National team
Angerer's first international came in 1997 against the Netherlands, however; after five further matches in quick succession, she has only played sporadically, overshadowed by the success of Silke Rottenberg. Angerer helped the national team to the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. At the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup Angerer became the leading goalkeeper of the national team, as Rottenberg was still out of form after an injury. During the entire tournament she did not conceed a single goal, setting the record for most consecutive minutes played without conceding a goal in World Cup play to 540 minutes. This included blocking a Penalty kick shot by Marta Vieira da Silva during the final against Brazil.
