The Nader bell is the nickname given to the beeping sound a truck or bus makes when backing up. The beeping warns people that a vehicle is in reverse and that the driver's view may be partially obstructed.

The name comes from the consumer activist Ralph Nader, whose 1965 book, Unsafe at Any Speed, led to reforms in the safety standards of the American automobile industry.
