The Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter is a fictional spaceship in the Star Wars universe.

The N-1 initially had the same angular design as craft in the original Star Wars trilogy; only in later designs did it take on a streamlined appearance.[1]

The N-1 Starfighter design is similar to that of the Naboo Royal Starship. The N-1 Starfighter first appeared during the space battle period of the Battle of Naboo in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace where a squadron of the fighters attacked the orbiting Droid Control Ship. Later during the Battle of Naboo, Anakin Skywalker piloted a Naboo N-1 Starfighter into the Droid Control Ship's docking bay. N-1 Starfighters also make an appearance in the beginning of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones escorting senator Padmé Amidala's Naboo Royal Cruiser upon its arrival to Coruscant. The N-1 appears at the end of the DVD version of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
This ship available to the player in the Nintendo 64 video game Star Wars: Battle for Naboo. The starfighter is also an unlockable vehicle in the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series.
[edit] Cultural impact
A life sized model of a Naboo Starfighter hangs suspended from the ceiling of the Blue Wing at the Boston Museum of Science, in Boston, Massachusetts.[2] This 1:1 scale model was unveiled at the museum in April 2004, as a prelude to the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit.[2] The model was previously used as a prop during the filming of The Phantom Menace.[2]

[edit] High Voltage Rat Tail
The center "rat tail" protruding from the rear of the N-1 starfighters primary use is to feed high voltage power from the palace generators to activate the ships systems.It also provides information to the onboard ships computer including target information, target location and battle tactics.
[edit] That Gleaming Royal Look
The gleaming chromium finish on all Naboo N-1's is purely decorative. However prior to the development of electromagnetic shields this chromium finish protected pilots from harmful rays in the planets atmosphere. Only royal ships or royal escorts may carry this hand finished treatment.

Although Naboo, their primary base of service is a peaceful planet Queen Amadalia's guard retains Bravo Squadron (the only known squadron of N-1s in service) for more of a ceremonial role as a Queens honour guard.
