Ný batterí is the twelfth track on War All The Time on the Japanese release of the album; since its release it is not known to have been played live. Ný batterí was originally written and performed by Sigur Ros, released on Ágætis byrjun. Thursday, notably vocalist Geoff Rickly, are outspoken about their love for Sigur Ros.
Rickly has allegedly written a response to criticism involving the song, noting that the cover was only an exercise and never intended for release:
"would like to say this though: sorry about the vocals on that sigur ros cover... it was just meant as an exercise for us and it got released... ouch!!! ha ha didn't mean to torture all of you with it. (but the band did put me on the list for one of their shows after the cover was released!!! they are amazing live, huh?)"
