Nélson Veiga fullname Nélson César Tavares Rodrigues Veiga (born 9 February 1978) is a Cape Verdean football (soccer) defender, currently unattched after he was released byOmonia Nicosia in Cyprus.He also represents theCape Verde national football teamand holds a Portuguese passport.

He scored an own goal against Ghana national football team, 5 September 2004. He played every match in 2006 World Cup qualification expect against Burkina Faso, South Africa and Uganda, March-June, 2005. Now in Omonoia he has been one of the most consistent performers in the club. A regular member of the team,Nelson is regarded as one of the top defenders in Cyprus although Omonia Nicosia 's bad form has clearly affected his performance as well.During the last two seasons he has four own goal's against his team.
