Närpes (Närpiö in Finnish) is a city in Finland.

The municipality is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Ostrobothnia region. It has a population of 9,575 (2003) and covers an area of 977.70 km² of which 7.55 km² is water. The population density is 9.9 inhabitants per km².

The city is unilingually Swedish. Many inhabitants speak a very archaic Swedish dialect that has been unaffected by many modern developments and resembles Old Swedish. There are many bands that sings in their dialect, e.g. 1G3B and Nektor.

Economically, the municipality is known for extensive greenhouse farming of tomatoes.
