Myxophaga is the smallest suborder of Coleoptera, consisting of four families of small to minute beetles. They have notopleural sutures, although on some families the sutures may be difficult to see.
The members of this suborder are aquatic and feed on algae.
There is only one genus found in North America: Sphaerius. It is found in bogs.
