[edit] Gameplay

The objective of the game is to discard all the cards of the opposing player by sending them to the Hades Zone.

[edit] The Basics

To play the Mythomachy game, a player needs a Mythomachy deck, a game mat and at least one friend with a deck and a mat to use it as the Mythomachy battlefield!

[edit] The Game Mat

The player selects a flat surface to open his game mat and place cards on it. There are 2 worlds and 12 zones to play and discard cards on the mat.

[edit] The Worlds

Both the Upper World and Underworld have four possible card background colors depending on what type cards they're in.

[edit] The Zones

Where the player places face down the 60 cards of the main Deck – the draw pile.

Where the player places face down the 12 cards of the Power Deck – the power pile.

Where the player places face down the “family” cards, which are cards of the same genealogical tree and/or of same action team. Hestia Zone does not accept more than 7 cards.

Where the discarded cards go. Cards in Hades are always faced up and anyone can look at them at any time.

Where the player places face up the Water cards type of Upper World and Underworld.

Where the player places face up the Fire cards type of Upper World and Underworld.

Where the player places face up the Air cards type of Upper World and Underworld.

Where the player places face up the Earth cards type of Upper World and Underworld.

[edit] Card Types

There are five different color-coded card types: Air (Purple), Fire (Orange), Earth (Green), Water (Blue), Power (Black). Each of the four card types (not included the Power cards) consists of different categories: Deity, Hero, Mortal, Monster, Giant, Nymph, Dragon, Creature, Demigod, Demon, King, Seer/Magician, Spirit and Place. On each card, a text tells the player the parentage, activity and foe of the illustrated character. This text has effect on the game play as it gives player information of which cards to prefer or avoid in order not to be discarded or destroyed! On the left part of each card the hidden points of Attack and Defense are figured out. Next to the Special Ability hidden number, on the lower left part of each card, a text box appears too. This tells player which special rules to follow if he uses the character's Special Ability to play on.

[edit] Other Rules

  • The deck must contain exactly 60 cards.
  • The deck must contain Air, Fire, Earth and Water cards of the Upper World and Underworld. A minimum of 12 cards can be used from each type. Aside from this minimum limit the deck can contain as many cards as the player likes but not more than 60 cards in total!
  • In addition, the player can also play with 12 additional cards (not counted in the 60 cards main Deck) in a separate pile known as the Power Deck placed in the Zeus Deck Zone.
  • The deck can contain no more than 5 copies of any card under the same name. Thus, the player can use the same card 5 times with different hidden points of Attack and Defense.
