Mytilis is a genus of bivalve molluscs that is found along coasts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.[1] This genus is alternatively spelled Mytilus. this genus was known to have been consumed as food by certain coastal Native American peoples such as the Chumash as early as 800 to 1300 AD.[2]
