The Mythe Water Treatment Works in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England treats water drawn from the river Severn
It came to prominence on 22nd July 2007 when it became was inundated with water from the River Severn during the Summer 2007 United Kingdom floods.
The water purification plant flooding contaminated water leading to the loss of tap water for approximately 150,000 people in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury.[1]
On 1 March 2002 Severn Trent Water welcoming councillors from Tewkesbury Borough Council to the works as part of emergency plans to ensure that the community is protected from the possible effects of any incident off-site.[2]
