I need some help with an article
Can you help me? I created an article, "CJ Johnson" and it was nominated for deletion. I think the administrator that tagged it never read the article. The reason why I think this is because I had a wiki administrator look at it a while back and they approved the article. Is there anyway you can remove the tag? Thank you. JoeyC5 02:41, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I cannot just remove the tag. You will have to wait until the discussion closes, and since the article is worth including then the conclusion will be "keep". –mysid☎ 13:13, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Female anatomy frontal view
Helloooo shasta :)
I translated that image in commons:Image:Female anatomy frontal view ar.svg but there is a little issue..at the place of Cervix text, the ar text is over the red-line pointer..can you fix that please?--The Joke النكتة 15:56, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Alnokta! :) I tried to move the text, for several times, but it just got worse. Seems like the support for arabic text in SVG is buggy here, among other things. –mysid☎ 09:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for trying. so the problem is in the SVG itself or it is something that our devs could fix?--The Joke النكتة 14:01, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I came up with another solution – removed the red line. Now it should look nicer. And apparently there was a
<tspan>
tag that the renderer did not understand correctly, so I removed it as well. –mysid☎ 14:43, 22 May 2007 (UTC)- Ah, Now it is good..Thanks for making the renderer understand :)--The Joke النكتة 17:29, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Ittihodi Scouthoi logo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ittihodi Scouthoi logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image:New Orleans, Louisiana flag.svg
I just updated the flag of New Orleans with the correct fleur-de-lis and colors from the city website and changed the copyright from GFDL-self to PD-user (without putting down a specific creator). If you have any comments on this, please let me know!

Non-free use disputed for Image:Trax_screenshot.png
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Trax_screenshot.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 00:55, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:MS-DOS_icon.png
Thanks for uploading Image:MS-DOS_icon.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:49, 22 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 16:49, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Mysid, as part of my work on Wikipedia:WikiProject Flag Template, I've seen lots of your good work, so I thought I'd ask a favor. Hope you don't mind! I'd like a flag for the all-Ireland field hockey teams. If you look at this webpage, you'll see a low-quality JPEG file of the flag we need. It has a centre shield on a green background, with a banner of "IRELAND" underneath. The shield has the main components of the existing Image:Four Provinces Flag.svg (in slightly different positions), so I would think it might be simple for an SVG expert to use that as a starting point. If you can do this, please place the new image at Image:Flag of Ireland hockey team.svg (similar to the naming convention of Image:Flag of Ireland cricket team.svg). If not, and you have a suggestion of where I should make this request, that would help too! Thanks, Andrwsc 19:27, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Mysid, we have found out that you are an expert drawing flags. Our association have made an official variant of flag for Tornedalians. You can see it at http://www.tornedalsflaggan.com. We would appreciate you to make our flag as a free jpg-flag. It is exactly like the Estonian flag but the fields are from botten to top Blue, white and yellow. Its a a tri-color, with three equal horizontal bands. The width to length ratio is 7:11, and the exact standard dimensions are 1000 by 1650 millimeters. I have not the definite colours yet bud we hope you can take them from the sample on my site above and replace with the real colours later.
So we hope you can help us doing that favour. This flag will replace both the two shown in article about Tornedalians and every variants shown in Wkipedia.

- Var så god: . It is not a JPEG image as you asked, because JPEG is an unsuitable file format for flags. Instead, I wrote it in the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format. In the image's description page you can also download a rendering of it in the PNG format by right-clicking on the big preview image. PNG is very widely supported, and much better for flag images than JPEG. I released the image into the public domain. Go' natt! ›mysid (☎∆) 19:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
OECS flag
How did you make that beautiful OECS flag? How do you create all these advanced shapes? --Shandristhe azylean 14:26, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment. I drew it in CorelDRAW, a versatile vector graphics editor program that I learned to use in the digital arts lessons in my school. The shapes are all made of lines, Bézier curves, ellipses, and gradient fills, all of which are easy to create in CorelDRAW. I don't have access to the (expensive) software any more, but I'm learning to use Inkscape, a free – albeit not as advanced – alternative. ›mysid (☎∆) 15:15, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I meant to switch the things in the image itself.. like the following:
adipic acid -< cyclohexane -< benzene

Ok..I tried myself, and thats what I got. can you fix that? and perhaps make it smaller?--Alnokta 08:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

hi Mysid,
maybe you can check the colours you used, if they are not the same blue(301c) and yellow(116c) as in the Swedish flag please update.

SVG Diagrams
Hello Mysid,
I saw that you redid my old diagram for the Constitution of 1791 (Upper and Lower Canada). However, this diagram was done a while ago (it was uploaded oct. 3rd 2004 according to the logs) and it should be redone to be better (and more accurate). Ideally, I would like to redo this diagram and all my other diagrams in SVG myself. Here is my problem:
I use Dia on a Ubuntu system. The SVG export of Dia gives crappy results and this is why I exported to png in the past. The only way I found to export to SVG with proper results was to export to EPS format from Dia, import the EPS in Adobe Illustrator, just to export it back to SVG. Inkscape cannot import EPS unfortunately. Since I do not own a copy of Illustrator, this is not convenient at all. Even if I owned one actually, I would prefer not to encourage the use of a proprietary software.
Do you by any chance know a free software-only way to go from Dia format to SVG so as to work around the broken SVG export of Dia? I guess I could do it all from scratch in Inkscape (like you did I presume), but this would be very frustrating as I have zero experience with this application or any other vector-drawing program. -- Mathieugp 19:18, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sadly, I don't know of a way to convert from (E)PS to SVG, either. I've tried it with several programs, e.g. with pstops and pstoedit, but they have either segfaulted or produced horrible results. I have a bunch of files waiting for conversion. But I really suggest you spend some moments with Inkscape. Tavmjong Bah has written a great free guide called Inkscape: Guide to a Vector Drawing Program. ›mysid (☎∆) 19:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks anyway. :-) Hopefully, the next version of Dia will include a fix for the SVG export. I will make sure the developers are at least aware of the problem I have experienced. -- Mathieugp 12:51, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
