Mystic Warriors is a side-scrolled, ninja-themed arcade shoot 'em up released by Konami in 1993.
[edit] Gameplay
The gameplay is quite similar to the earlier, western-themed Sunset Riders, also by Konami. Also, there are a huge numbers of Sunset Riders references since it is developed by the same team. There are certain differences between the two, such the fact that your character has a life bar in this game, as opposed to being a one-hit wonder such as in Sunset Riders.
The story is notable for being rather dark for a mid-90s arcade game, as of the five characters you can pick from in the beginning, one will be kidnapped to kick off the plot. As you advance in stages you will come across an "unbeatable" boss, until said kidnapped character frees and sacrifices theirself in order to destroy it. The rest of the game is spent avenging and mourning their death.
