MySQL Workbench, the successor to DBDesigner 4 from FabForce, is a visual database design tool that integrates database design, modeling, creation and maintenance into a single, seamless environment for the MySQL database system.

[edit] Current state
The first final version (5.0.19) of the software has been released on 15 April 2008.
The Beta version has been available since 19 November 2007.
The (first) alpha version has been available since 14 September 2005, the version was 1.1.10 and is not included into the MySQL GUI Tool bundle anymore, due to quality problems. [1] [2]

According to the MySQL GUI development team MySQL Workbench is their new flagship product in 2008.

Plans are to restructure the whole source code and to reprogram several parts, including an update to a Cairo based canvas. [3]
