Myrtle Beach Intermediate School

Myrtle Beach Intermediate School is located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at 3301 Oak Street. As part of the Horry County Schools, Myrtle Beach Intermediate serves over 550 fourth and fifth grade students. They employ nearly 60 staff members. Myrtle Beach Intermediate is also an Exemplary Writing School and a Red Carpet School.[1]

Myrtle Beach Intermediate School was opened in August 1997 after a new middle school was built and the building was refurbished. Students came from Myrtle Beach Elementary School, which then became a second and third grade school.

There have been three principals since its opening. Dr. Sandra Cross served from 1997 until 2003. Dottie Brown was principal from 2003 to 2006. Cathy Slater is the current principal.

There have been no recent problems, as the educators and staff work to improve the lives of their young pupils.

The curriculum follows the South Carolina State Standards for English/ language arts, math, science, social studies, physical education, fine arts, technology, and information literacy.
