Myra S. Barnes I.S. 24 is one of the prominent middle schools on Staten Island, New York. The school accepts more than 600 students each year with an average total of 1,800 students. The school features a handball court and a chalkbaseball field. The school also participates in the FIRST Lego League as either the Rouge Leaders or The Knights of 24. The school offers two languages, Italian and Spanish for grades 6 through 7. Each gym class includes 3 individual classes. For example, one gym class has 804, 803, and 815. Girls and boys play together such as Howie Bethea, Anthony Garcia, Anthony Thomas,Jackie Rupelli, Robert Bush, Christian Larsen, etc.

When you come to I.S.24, you are given the option to choose your talent. They include of Art, Band, Computers, Media, Performing Arts, and Stagecraft. In art, you draw a lot and create masterpieces. In Band, you have the chance to learn how to play an instrument and later perform it. In Computers, you learn about computers and how to do different things on the computer. In media, you learn how to use cameras and technical equipment. In performing arts you will have get an experience in 8th grade to put on a play. this year the 8th grade did Beauty and the Beast. in PA you get to act, dance, and sing and show off your talent to your classmates. In stagecraft, you build scenery for concerts and plays. stagecraft works very closly with the Performing ARts program

At I.S.24, the 8th grade Media, Art, Performing Arts, and Stagecraft gets to be known. For Art, they have an 'Art Show', where their stuff is shown to everyone. In Media, they have a 'Media Show' where students lipsync and dance to songs from a specific time period. Lastly, the Performing Arts and Stagecraft people work together to put on a play. Also, the Performing Arts and Band give two concerts throughout the year, the 'Winter Concert' and the 'Spring Concert'.

Each year, there are many dances. The Harvest dance, the Valentine's Day dance, and the Spring Fling. the dances have different names but are around the same time. These dances are adult supervised. at the end of the year the 8th grade also have a senior dance/ prom. this takes place in excselcior grande. its awesomeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
