[edit] Minor edits

Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thank you.

Regards, Oliphaunt 02:46, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

As for your message about minor edits, I don't appreciate being patronized. By anyone's standards, the change I made was in fact minor. I'm well aware of minor vs. major changes, and I don't appreciate being talked down to. --Myles Long 18:47, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
(split your reply and moved this part to the proper section, I hope that's OK)
I apologise: I never meant to patronise you. I used the standard notice for misuse of the 'minor edit' function, and the way I read it, it's just a reminder of etiquette, which was how I intended it, too.
I also apologise for not being clear about which edit I mean. Your edit to Back Orifice 2000 that I commented on above can indeed be argued to have been minor, but I noticed that you have a tendency to flag almost all of your (recent) edits as minor (probably because you've set your preferences that way), but I think you'll agree that for example these edits are not minor by anyone's standards. I just wanted to remind you of etiquette, and if it's OK by you we'll just leave it at this. Oliphaunt 21:44, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Burntsauce

Why are you encouraging him? He is specifically targeting wrestling articles (he hasn't blanked anything else) and is misinterpreting BLP. BLP says to remove contentious material, but he blanks everything except the intro. He has also refused to discuss his blankings at the appropriate WikiProject (WP:PW). Whenever anyone confronts him on his misinterpretations, he only responds "bring it up with Jimmy Wales". TJ Spyke 23:33, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Plus he never talks to anyone before or after and only communicates through edit summaries. Darrenhusted 00:03, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stacy Carter

Because you protected the bio of Stacy Carter, I wasn't able to add citations into her page. Therefore, I made a new version of the page on the talkpage, complete with citations. If this could be inserted into the article, that would be excellent. Thanks. Nikki311 05:19, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Just so you know, on Stacy Carter's talk page, Burntsauce requested the page be unprotected. Since he was the reason you protected it in the first place, maybe you could unprotect it now? Nikki311 17:15, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adrian Adonis

I think you jumped the gun on this, considering neither of us are even remotely close to 3RR. If this is what edit warring is considered to be now maybe 3RR needs to be reformatted. –– Lid(Talk) 21:10, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I was just wondering how this constitutes an edit war. I see 6 relevant edits then nothing for a month. -Royalguard11(Talk·Review Me!) 03:47, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

I also find it ludacris to enforce Biography of a living person on a deceased person. And the fact that you protected it so that no one even knowledgable of Adrian Adonis can contribute to the article. — The Future 21:41, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

WP:RPP

There is another request for this page to be unprotected. As the protecting admin, do you have any objections? - auburnpilot talk 04:55, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article move

Now that its fairly clear that the title of Rob Zombie's Halloween film is going to be Halloween and its Wikipedia article is Halloween (2007 film), the old Halloween article needs to be moved from Halloween (film) to Halloween (1978 film) to meet Wikipedia:Naming conventions (films)#Between films of the same name. I could not do it myself because I think the article might still be protected from when it was on the Main Page, so an admin will have to do it. I can clean up the redirects once the move has been accomplished. Dmoon1 16:17, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Moved. I'll try to fix some of the redirects, but if you can double-check them, that'd be great. Also, if you can make Halloween (film) into a disambig, that'd be appreciated. --Myles Long 17:00, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I fixed all the redirects to article namespaces, however, I left user pages, talk pages, and archives alone. Dmoon1 04:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed images

Hello, Myleslong. An automated process has found and removed a fair use image used in your userspace. The image (Image:0wned.png) was found at the following location: User talk:Myleslong. Thanks for uploading Image:Burden brothers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ruffin.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Docg 21:02, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BJbug.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:09, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tom_DeLay_Cuban.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Baboon band.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

I have tagged Image:Shadowfront.JPG as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. [edit] Regarding your block of User:Govvy

... would you consider reducing the term or unblocking him if he agrees to be civil and refrain from further personal attacks? I agree that those attacks are unacceptable, but it seems he got hot under the collar. I'm inclined to unblock him, or commute him to time served, so long as he agrees to chill out (blocks being preventive and all), but I don't want to do that without checking with you first. MastCell Talk 22:12, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

If Govvy will acknowledge that personal attacks and edit summaries such as the ones he made are unacceptable and apologize to those he has offended I will reduce the block. As of right now he still appears to be unapologetic. Myles Long 23:03, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
You're totally right... I was hoping he'd cool off and see reason, but I can't in good conscience unblock him when he's still claiming he did absolutely nothing wrong. Oh well. MastCell Talk 23:06, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I reviewed the block and was going to reduce it (actually I did reduce it and then reinstated pending discussion with you), but then I noticed he doesn't seem to feel he did anything wrong. I still think that 1 week on a first block for a longtime editor, even one who is perhaps being extremely incivil is a bit excessive. I was going to go to 24 hours, but maybe a 48/72 is more appropriate for a first block. Thoughts? I'm not so concerned if he apologizes as long as it is clearly stated to him that if he does it again he will be blocked for a long period of time.--Isotope23 15:47, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I just have to laugh at you guys. :) hahaha! there! anyway, the only thing I did wrong was swear! Burntsauce removed my citations. That's what went wrong, but alas, the punishment for him removing my citations is he gets off scot free and I was blocked for a week. Alas. Govvy 13:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lubbock High School Academic Decathlon

Why did you revert my edit? There needs to be some new informationon the site.

[edit] Jason Voorhees

I had to undo some of your copyediting. You appeared to undo a good portion of my most recent edit, which was in the effort of addressing the concerns another admin had in the GAR. What I changed you reverted a good portion back to, effectively removing the chance that it would be passed in the GAC. I didn't undo everything you did, only the things that contradicted the edits that were designed to satisfy the GAR. Thanks for the copy editing though.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 21:09, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Dammit, sorry about that. I'll try again later. --Myles Long 21:20, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
It's ok. I didn't blanket undo, I opened up two tabs and went through what you did and just undid the ones that undid my edit just before yours....if that makes any sense. All the GAR comments are on the talk page, so you can see what I addressed and how I addressed it on the page.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:12, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Hard to Swallow

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Talk:Hard to Swallow, by LuciferMorgan (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Talk:Hard to Swallow fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:
Article no longer exists, so talk page needs deleting. LuciferMorgan 16:08, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Talk:Hard to Swallow, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 16:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Need your help to apply the naming convention for film series

Hi! I know that I haven't been around much in the last year, but I am sort of back now and trying to catch up on things that I left undone when I went on a long unannounced sabbatical from Wikipedia. One of the things that I would like to do it get the film series articles under control. To do that, a few that I have found misnamed need to be renamed according to the naming convention we agreed upon. However, there are those who defend a single word in an article title as if it were sacred, such is the case with a few of the discussions below and the word "trilogy." The detractor(s) for the convention cling to the word trilogy as if for dear life. Could you take a look at the articles in question and give me your opinion on the matter? I would really appreciate your take on this.

Also, the convention we came up with for film series is being discussed further. If you want to jump back into this, please do so.

Thank you for your time. - LA @ 09:19, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I just undid your edit using AWB to List of National Historic Landmarks in Texas and browsed another recent edit, List of museums in Texas. They weren't awfully significant, but also neither edit seems helpful. Deleting underscore characters out of photo names seems downright unhelpful to me. I browsed the guidelines for AWB and they suggest to me that going around doing minor edits like this is not appropriate. Hope this feedback is helpful to you. doncram (talk) 23:03, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
