Mykolayiv Astronomical Observatory

Mykolayiv Astronomical Observatory (full name is "Science and research institute Mykolayiv Astronomical Observatory", Russian: Научно-исследовательский институт Николаевская астрономическая обсерватория) — astronomic observatory situated in Mykolaiv. The building and park among it is cultural property of city and whole country.

  • Was founded in 1821.
  • Between 1821 and 1904 had name "Naval astronomic observatory" and used commonly for puropses of Black sea fleet.

[edit] Second period

  • From 1904 to 1991 observatory was a part of Pulkovo observatory and counts as southern branch of Main astronomic observatory.

[edit] Third period

  • Since 1992 is independent observatory.
  • in April 2007 was included in list of candidates to UNESCO world inheritance objects.
