Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuanian: Mykolo Romerio universitetas or MRU) is a university in Vilnius, Lithuania, bearing the name of distinguished Lithuanian lawyer Mykolas Römeris. It is a State Higher research and education Institution, which was established in 2004, and is based in Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius.
The mission of the University is to deliver high quality education, to accumulate and nourish intellectual potential, to train society’s leaders capable of creating and implementing innovations which influence the overall progress. Our University fosters autonomy which allows independent tailoring of studies, research and improvement or change of professional qualifications in response to the development of European higher education and labour market needs. In 2006, the University took part in the EUA (European University Association) institutional evaluation programme and received a very positive institutional quality review.

The university consists of 6 faculties and 40 departments. It offers more than 50 programmes at the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels. Studies are carried out in compliance to the major principles of Bologna process. The major fields of study are Law, Public Administration, Economics, Finance Management, Psychology, Social Work, Social Policy, Sociology, Educology.

[edit] International Activities
On September 16, 2003, the University joined the ranks of signatories of Magna Charta Universitatum together with other progressive universities.
Mykolas Romeris University cooperates with over 200 international institutions including universities, public and management institutions. The University enjoys full membership of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the European University Association (EUA), the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), European Association for International Education (EAIE), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (OECD IMHE) and other international and European institutions.
The University offers the following Master degree progrmmes in English: EU Policy and Administration, Information Technology Law, International Law, European Union Law, Welfare Sociology, Psychology. Foreign students are also given the opportunity to receive ECTS credits in 200 non-degree courses in English, German and French, which are designed for incoming students.

Specially designed courses in the Young Financier’s Academy in the Faculty of Economics and the Young Lawyer's Academy in the Law Faculty are particularly popular among secondary school pupils.
Legal Aid Center and Crime Victim Care Association of Lithuania, which provides support of crime victims, have earned trust of the society and the attention of the politicians over more than ten years of their functioning.
University staff and PhD students counsel Lithuanian citizens on legal and social issues at the Vilnius Legal Aid Center and at outreach centers throughout the country. Each month the team reaches out to the remote districts of the country. The beneficiaries of this program now total 40,000. The university also sponsors a Crime Victim Care Association.
