MyHeritage is a family-oriented social network service that allows users to create an online family tree, share pictures, organize family events, and search for ancestors online.[1][2][3] MyHeritage is also known for its face recognition algorithm used to scan a person’s uploaded photo and match them to various celebrities in the MyHeritage celebrity database.[4][5]
MyHeritage was founded in 2003 and is located in the village of Bnei Atarot (near Tel Aviv).[6] In 2007, the site had 17.2 million subscribers and a database of 150,000 family trees with 180 million people profiles. MyHeritage has raised 9 million US dollars in funding, about half of which is from venture capital firm Accel.[7]
