Myerscough
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Myerscough (generally pronounced Myers/co or Myers/koh) is an English surname, which is most common in Lancashire. The town with the highest proportions of Myerscough's is Fleetwood in Lancashire. The name is virtually unheard of in the midlands and the south. [1] People with the name are usually used to it being pronounced or spelt incorrectly, mainly due to people being unfamiliar with the name and pronouncing it how they think it is pronounced or spelt. However, some individuals with the name from outside the North West of England(e.g. the musicians Clarence, Henry and Nadia Myerscough)have pronounced their name as Myer-scoff.
Historically the name has the more phonetic spelling 'Myerscoe'.
