My Three Angels
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My Three Angels (1953) is a Christmas comedy play by Samuel and Bella Spewack, which was based on the French play La Cuisine Des Anges by Albert Husson. It is their only play that is regularly found in repertory theater. The Spewacks are possibly best known for writing the book for Kiss Me, Kate. The 1955 movie We're No Angels was based upon My Three Angels.
[edit] Plot summary
The play is set in French Guiana around the turn of the 20th century, showing the interaction between three prisoners and a family of French colonists. It is fairly similar to the film We're No Angels. The main difference is that in the play the three prisoners are not escapees, they are legally on leave from the prison, helping the colonists with repairs.
